Ross Davenport for Laramie House District 45 | 2026

I’m Ross Davenport, the Republican candidate for Wyoming House District 45.
I’m running to represent Laramie and Albany County in the Wyoming Legislature because this district deserves practical, common-sense representation in Cheyenne.
I’m not running because I have spent my life wanting to be a politician.
I’m running because, after years of watching government from the outside, I reached a point where standing on the sidelines was no longer enough.
The 2026 general election is Tuesday, November 3. Voters in House District 45 will choose who speaks for Laramie when the Legislature takes up taxes, schools, housing, energy, and infrastructure.
Who represents Laramie in House District 45?
Wyoming House District 45 is one of 62 districts in the Wyoming House of Representatives. It covers part of Albany County and the city of Laramie, not Laramie County. The person elected by this district goes to the State Capitol to represent the people who live here, not the other way around.
That distinction matters to me. My job would be to take the concerns of Laramie homeowners, renters, students, employers, and families to Cheyenne and make sure our community has a voice. I will listen to people who agree with me. I will listen to people who do not.
An Engineer’s Approach to Government
My background is in engineering, and that has shaped how I look at public decisions. Engineers are trained to ask a short list of questions before they support a proposal:
What problem are we actually solving?
Will this work on the ground in Laramie?
What does it cost, and who pays?
What can go wrong five or ten years from now?
Does the proposal solve the problem, or does it only sound good in a headline?
I believe the Wyoming Legislature could use more of that approach. It applies to property taxes, energy, housing, infrastructure, education, and major new development coming into Albany County. If a project’s costs get pushed onto local families, that is not growth. That is a bill handed to the people who already live here.
An Educator’s Perspective
I also bring something else to this race: experience as an educator at the college level.
Teaching changes how you think about public policy because you see firsthand the potential of the next generation.
Education is not an abstract budget item. It is about students preparing for careers, families trying to build better lives and employers who need skilled workers.
Wyoming needs strong public schools, but strong schools also require accountability, transparency and a willingness to make sure that money reaches the classroom and produces results.
I want Wyoming’s education system, our trades, apprenticeships, the University of Wyoming and local employers working together so more young people have opportunities to build careers and remain here.
What I am focused on in this campaign
The issues I hear about in House District 45 come back to the same list:
Strong public schools, with funding that reaches students
Accountable growth, so new development does not dump infrastructure costs on existing homeowners and renters
Affordability for people who live here
Reliable energy
Constitutional rights and local control
I have written in more detail about Laramie school needs and about infrastructure costs in House District 45. Those posts are where I go further on each issue. This one is about why I got into the race.

I could not stand on the sidelines any longer. That is why I am running. House District 45 deserves a representative who brings an engineer’s attention to detail, an educator’s concern for the next generation, and Wyoming common sense to the Legislature.
I’m ready to do the work.
